Berkeley is in a really pretty area. It has great sunsets over the SF Bay, and past the Golden Gate Bridge you can see a sliver of ocean. If you explore the oceanside, you can find outlets that organize whale-watching and dolphin-watching boat tours.
The whales and dolphins are hard to photograph, though!
